"Old Salem", in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is an historic area with some reconstruction, but a good many buildings that have been standing and in use since they were built beginning in 1766. The German architecture features brick and stucco, tile roofs, and arches as structural elements. The fact that these steps are built on a slope introduces a little incongruity into an otherwise very squared-off picture. Because of the strong lines and patterns, this picture is also a good candidate for printing in black and white.
