I would have preferred to make this sort of picture on a larger negative, but transport restrictions dictated that I take only the Leica. Because of some temperature-control problems I had when processing the film, this picture is kind of grainy, so I don't print it much larger than 8x10. But it is evocative of beautiful Finland. I enjoy making pictures on sunny f16 days - "Three Trees - Madrid" is a good example - but the subtle mood and different perspective of pictures made in falling snow, or in fog, or the patterns, as here, made by raindrops hitting the water, add a different and often more interesting or more dream-provoking dimension. The challenge is in getting the weather into the picture without getting the weather into the camera.
